Professional Profile

I am a trained and accredited doctor within the field of clinical psychology. I have been providing therapy and psychological interventions in a clinical setting for the past 22 years. I currently run my own private practice having been a Lead Psychologist in the NHS for a number of years.  During this time, I have worked with individuals to help them to alleviate distress, develop an increased understanding and awareness of themselves and to lead a more meaningful life.

Seeking support and guidance is a common part of being human and is sometimes needed to overcome difficulties. I aim to provide a confidential, professional and welcoming service founded upon my knowledge that has been accumulated from my specialist training and my skills that are drawn from my experience of providing therapy for the last 22 years. This is paired with providing a non-judgmental, containing environment where trust and compassion can be valued and developed.

Whether the purpose of therapy is learning more about yourself and your circumstances through personal discovery, gaining strategies to help with change or a different intention entirely, we can work collaboratively towards providing and experiencing wellbeing.

I have particular experience of working therapeutically with those who suffer from anxiety, depression, phobias, panic attacks, eating disorders, drug, alcohol and addiction difficulties, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, abuse histories and bereavement. Common to this has been working with those who experience relationship difficulties, those who feel confused about their current emotions and those who are generally struggling to bring significance to their current lives.

I also provide sessions of EMDR. EMDR is a comprehensive therapeutic approach that is centered around processing traumatic and difficult events through bi-lateral stimulation. Its purpose is to reduce current levels of distress and it is recommended in the NICE treatment guidelines for use with PTSD.  There is also a substantial evidence base for use with those who may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, phobias, childhood abuse, addiction, pain and eating disorders. Please do state if you are particularly interested in using EMDR in your therapy.
