Mr. Mohan Kumar is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist with special interest in complex gynaecological surgery and oncology at Good Hope Hospital, Heart of England NHS Trust. He completed specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology in West Midlands in 2011. His main clinical interest is in advanced laparoscopic (key hole) surgery and has completed training in renowned centers in the UK and overseas.

Mr. Kumar is an advanced laparoscopic surgery trainer in UK and Europe. He is a faculty member for Ethicon Endo-Surgery Europe (GmbH) – Hamburg, Germany and also accredited trainer for operative Hysteroscopy.

He specialises in total laparoscopic (key hole) hysterectomy that promotes enhanced recovery, early discharge from the hospital (within 24hrs) and early return to work with very high levels of patient satisfaction. He also specialises in laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis and pelvic pain.

He has established specialist pelvic pain and endometriosis clinic at Good Hope Hospital. He has also audited the clinic performances and obtained excellent patient satisfaction results. He is an expert in various general gynaecological conditions including ovarian cysts, menstrual disorders, uterine polyps and fibroids. His other strength is operative hysteroscopy for uterine polyps, sub-mucous fibroids, uterine septum and endometrial ablations.

He continuously audits his clinical performances to make sure excellent care is delivered to all his patients.

Ravinder qualified as a doctor in 1995 and has been working in gynaecology since 1997. She was trained in obstetrics and gynaecology within the West Midlands and was appointed as consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at Good Hope Hospital in 2011; specialising in gynaecology and early pregnancy ultrasound.

As the lead consultant for the early pregnancy and gynaecology assessment unit she has worked extensively towards the development of the unit:  introducing day case management of miscarriage, multidisciplinary management of recurrent miscarriage and providinges expert scanning in for rare conditions.

Through her interest in gynaecology ultrasound, she fostered an expertise in the management of pelvic masses, early gynaecological cancer and ovarian cancer screening. She was subsequently appointed as the lead for oncology at Good Hope Hospital. In this role she has further extended her involvement in the areas of cervical cancer screening, colposcopy, management of vulval conditions and advanced gynaecological surgery.

Furthermore, Ravinder is accredited as a trainer and leads the training programme for ultrasound training of junior doctors and nurse sonographers at Good Hope Hospital. She is actively involved in teaching and training medical students and higher surgical trainees.

She is a senior clinical examiner at the University of Birmingham. Ravinder has published several scientific papers and presented at national and international conferences. Ravinder is a member of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) and also member of Association of Early Pregnancy Units. She has accreditation of British Society of Colposcopy and cervical pathology.

Ravinder is married to a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon and lives locally in Sutton Coldfield. I like to read, cook and listen to music in my spare time.

Dr Grisham Smotra is a highly skilled Consultant Gynaecologist with extensive experience in women’s health, advanced gynaecology imaging, and minimally invasive treatments.

She offers compassionate and personalised care. Dr Smotra is known for her patient-centred approach, ensuring women feel listened to and empowered in their care decisions. She combines advanced diagnostic expertise with clear explanations and evidence-based treatment pathways, tailoring management to each individual’s needs.

She is particularly recognised for her expertise in performing complex gynaecological and early pregnancy ultrasound scans.

Her specialist ultrasound scanning skills include detailed assessment for endometriosis, ovarian cysts, fibroid mapping, postmenopausal bleeding, and complex coil removals under ultrasound guidance. She also has advanced expertise in early pregnancy scanning, including diagnosis of ectopic pregnancies and caesarean scar pregnancies.

She offers one stop clinics where she provided detailed ultrasound assessment with consultation and further blood tests or swabs if needed.

She serves as the Early pregnancy and Acute gynaecology Lead at Walsall Manor Hospital and sits on various care group, divisional and Trust level meetings providing her expertise.

She also runs post menopausal bleeding clinics, ovarian cyst clinics and outpatient hysteroscopy clinics in her NHS practice.
