Professional Profile

I am currently working as a consultant cardiologist at the Heart of England NHS Trust. I am trained in coronary intervention and also fully competent in general cardiology skills such as transthoracic echocardiogram, transoesophageal echocardiogram, permanent pacemaker insertion, interpretation of Holter monitors and exercise stress test.

I qualified in India from a prestigious medical college in South India in 2001. I obtained my postgraduate qualification (Membership of Royall College of Physicians) in 2005. Since then, I have trained in cardiology acquiring all the necessary skills to specialise in coronary intervention, general cardiology and sports cardiology.

I have performed over 1500 percutaneous coronary interventions and have trained in one of the world renowned unit on a fellowship programme in Milan for 1-year. I directly trained under Professor Antonio Colombo (a world renowned interventional cardiologist) learning all the tips and tricks of coronary intervention. As a consultant, I have performed over 400 cases during which I have also supervised specialist registrars.

I have researched on athlete’s heart and obtained a doctorate in medicine (MD) from King’s College London in 2011. My research answered one of the important questions in sports cardiology by assessing the ethnic differences in left ventricular remodelling between caucasian athletes and atheltes of african/afro-carribbean origin. I have assessed over 3000 athletes by performing ECG and echocardiogram during my research years and fully competent in evaluating cardiovascular system of athletes or any individual who undertakes regular physical training.

With the above skills and knowledge, I will be able to provide comprehensive cardiology service to patients at Ashfurlong Medial Practice.
