Professional Profile
I graduated from Birmingham Medical School in 1998 and became a GP within the NHS for over 20 years. I developed a keen interest in understanding the changes that occur in perimenopause and menopause. For the past 5 years I have dedicated my time to providing specialist menopause care to women of all ages in the private sector and have contributed to improving education, access and education about the menopause via numerous methods, including lecturing and social media.
I have a particular interest in unpicking the evidence behind the medicine to enable women to understand what it means for them as individuals. I believe that medicine is both a science and an art. The science guides and informs our practice but it’s the art of applying the medicine to women that makes medicine special.
I have a special interest in providing care to the women who may have been told that HRT is not for them. I enjoy listening to a woman’s story, hearing her views on her care and translating the evidence to enable patient choice through shared decision making. I believe that women should be provided with evidence-based medicine to empower them to make choices that will facilitate full and healthy lives, for them to thrive in the workplace and maintain happy and healthy long-term relationships.
